Strain imaging & speckle tracking

Finds heart muscle weakness before a standard echo can.

What happens

Speckle tracking measures how each part of the heart muscle shortens with every beat. Left atrial (LA) strain helps detect early, hidden diastolic dysfunction, and right ventricular (RV) strain detects early RV dysfunction, often well before standard echo numbers change. This allows earlier treatment in heart failure, valve disease and people at risk of cardiomyopathy.

Strain imaging: each coloured segment is tracked through the heartbeat.
